There’s Ice Cream for All.
Recently, 15 junior executives gathered around a table at Brighton Agency to work on a very special branding exercise.
This special agency team was quite junior, ranging in ages from 5 to 12. The assignment at hand: branding their own ice cream truck (complete with name, design and, of course, flavors served). This was a highlight of Brighton Agency’s 2019 “Take Your Kid to Work Day,” which also included a scavenger hunt, a giant outdoor Jenga game, T-shirt designing and an agency bingo competition, for which attendees matched bingo cards to Brightonians who each shared what they liked to do when they were little and showed a work sample demonstrating what they do now.
There was a lunchtime pizza party and a visit by (naturally) an ice cream truck. There was even a show and tell, during which these savvy young marketers presented their branding concepts.
Fun was had by all, and these young teams shared some valuable feedback and a few fresh ideas for the agency.
One attendee suggested that Brighton should host birthday parties, noting that all that’s lacking is a bouncy castle or a trampoline.
The Brighton recording studio is even cooler than a bouncy castle. Aside from designing ice cream trucks and wrangling unicorns, one attendee was excited to learn how TV spots are made and was impressed with all of the equipment and technology necessary to make it all happen.
Another granted a promotion; Brighton’s Dan Doelling will continue to serve as digital marketing manager but will also be “unicorn driver for the Scoops Ahoy ice cream truck.”
The day was a great recruitment tool for Brighton, as one young attendee proclaimed that when she grows up, she wants to work at Brighton as “a director of art.”
Several kids commented that they wished they could come to Brighton every day. As Brightonians, we echo that sentiment — we’re thankful that we get to work each day in a culture that celebrates our families, including our children (human and fur-baby). We learned a lot from our young guests. Based on the dynamic ice cream truck designs they created and presented, we may all be working for them someday!
